All Day

The Santa Clara County and South Skyline Fire Safe Councils and CAL Trans have teamed up to improve fire safety on the narrow stretch of Skyline between Black Road and Bear Creek Road (known by many as the “Goat Trail”.

Phase I Black Road to Gist Road starts July 22nd and is scheduled to be completed July 27th. Expect delays Monday to Friday between 8:30am- 3:00pm. Please be aware of CAL Trans signage, equipment and workers.
Phase II Gist Road to Bear Creek Road is planned for Fall/Winter of 2019-2020.
If you have questions or concerns contact Project Coordinator Jim Young (408) 656-9130.
The focus of the work is the removal of flammable vegetation that, during a wildfire event could burn across the road possibly trapping motorists. This treatment (cutting and chipping) will result in a safer roadway for the commuters who use that road every day.
Thank you for your patience as we reduce our wildfire risks!
