Santa Cruz County Drought Emergency and Long-term Plans for Domestic Wells
A PRESENTATION BY Sierra Ryan, Water Resources Manager, County Of Santa Cruz Environmental Health
This topic should be of interest to residents of all 3 counties in the South Skyline area. Rural households and small communities across the west are increasingly at risk of having their groundwater wells go dry. Stories of shortage in recent years come from many places. In response to this, California passed a law in 2021 requiring counties to develop drought emergency and long-term plans for domestic wells. Sierra will provide an overview of the Santa Cruz County Drought Response and Outreach Plan for Small Water Systems and Private Wells.
